AIM OF THE PROGRAM

Master's law program aims to:

• provide in-depth and systematic knowledge within the chosen concentration in the field of private, criminal or public law, by generalizing best practices and / or using comparative legal methodology;

• Develop innovative approaches to correctly interpret the norm, comprehensively assess complex legal problems, and ultimately solve a legal task;

• provide the ability to get acquainted with the latest achievements in the relevant field and to carry out scientific-theoretical and practical research independently;

• Develop the ability to formulate their own complex and original legal conclusions in the field of private, criminal or public law;

• Develop the ability to present the results of their research and legal conclusions in a written and oral form in Georgian and foreign languages in compliance with the standards of academic ethics to the academic and professional community;

• Develop the ability to act in accordance with the norms of professional ethics and democratic values while carrying out practical activities in the field of law.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Graduate of the Law Program of Georgian National University SEU:

•  Has deep and systematic theoretical knowledge to form a new vision for solving complex and / or interdisciplinary problems in the field of private, criminal and / or public law;

•  Describes the achievements of national and foreign law, the development perspectives and key trends in the practice and precedents of national and / or international courts, the problems of the interrelationship between international and national laws;

•  Explains aspects of the impact of international law and / or EU Law on national law, defines the importance of using the comparative method.

•  Describes the rules of ethics and the peculiarities of disciplinary proceedings.

•  Possesses modern field methods of scientific research, rules of academic honesty and issues of academic ethics, basic rules and principles of creating professional scientific texts.


Ability:

Graduate of the Law Program of Georgian National University SEU:

•  Recognizes and comprehensively evaluates complex problems in private, criminal or public law and the factual circumstances of a legal case, carries out innovative synthesis of complex and incomplete information, uses critical analysis and comparative legal methods to develop new, original ways to solve problems.

• Using the method of explanation, on the perfection of legislation, develops his/her own original legal vision and determines the positive and negative consequences of his/her own decisions;

•  Communicates the results of his/her research and legal conclusions, in accordance with the standards of academic ethics, to the academic and professional community in written and oral form in native and foreign languages;

• Conducts the research process independently using the latest methods and approaches in accordance with the principle of academic integrity. Expands knowledge using up-to-date methods through primary sources, scholarly articles, and general analysis of court decisions.

•  Respects and recognizes professional and democratic values, standards of ethics and academic honesty, ethical results of scientific research;

•  Manages a complex, unpredictable or multidisciplinary learning and / or work environment and adapts freely through new strategic approaches to diverse groups of people with different views. Has a high level of personal autonomy and accountability, can take responsibility for the activities of others and their further professional development;

• Carries out the synthesis of theoretical components and practical experience, expands knowledge through general analysis of primary sources, scientific articles and court decisions, based on the latest methods in the relevant field.

PROGRAM ADMISSION PRECONDITION

Prerequisites and procedures for admission to the Master in Law educational program are in accordance with the current legislation, laid out in the regulatory framework for the study process, posted on the website, and are available to all interested parties.

A person with a bachelor's degree in law or an equivalent academic degree is eligible to study in the Master in Law program of Georgian National University SEU, who will be admitted on the basis of the results of the Unified Master's Exams, exams in specialty and in foreign language (English, German, French) established by Georgian National University SEU.  After passing the exams, the applicant will gain the right to study on the Master in Law program.

The competence of communication in English can be confirmed by an international certificate certifying the knowledge of English at B2 level:

that provides achievement of the study results considering by the program, with an appropriate level of the Higher Education qualification framework of the second level (master's) cycle.

After finishing the program, Master should be aware of the complex issues in the field of education management, also should have the ability to find solutions of the problem, solve it, and critically approach the issue. Also, the Master should be able to use the research methodology of the field for performing a research project.

 
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING 

After completing the Master Program, the student will develop deep and systemic knowledge in the field, that allows the creation of new, original ideas and understanding the ways of solving individual problems;

In particular, the student will have a deep and systematic knowledge based on the current topical clues, like:

  • The main directions of modern education systems and educational policy;
  • On the legal mechanisms regulating the interaction of educational institutions, and academic system actors;
  • Financial administration of the educational system,
  • Management theory, leadership and personnel management theories in the educational institution
  • By selecting a student, administration of the existing processes in general or higher education institution;
  • Understanding the importance of the social role of the educational institution.

 

ABILITY TO USE KNOWLEDGE IN PRACTICE

After completing the program, the student should be able to use the obtained knowledge and skills in practice, operating in a new, unforeseen and multidiscipline environment; Finding new and original ways of solving complex problems, including conducting the research independently by using recent methods and approaches.

In particular, the graduate is able to:

  • Analyze the current situation in the educational system, identify the problems, make relevant optimal methodology and elaborate practical plan of its solving.
  • Analyze of existing policy in the education field and elaborate recommendations of the educational system development.
  • Evaluate the quality assurance system in education structure (general or higher education), monitoring and evaluation of educational processes;
  • Work out the educational institution development strategy in terms  of the educational system and globalization of educational markets;
  • Independently perform the research with the studied methodology.

 

ABILITY TO CONCLUDE

Graduate of the program has been developed a critical analysis of the complex and incomplete information (including the latest researches),  and the ability to formulate the grounded conclusions.

Specifically, the student is able to:

  • Develop the solution of the problem based on its analysis  in the educational system, developing, reasoning, argumentation and protection of the optimal decision;
  • Assess the organizational development of the educational institution, detect the weak and strong sides, elaborate recommendations and critical analysis;
  • Evaluate the efficiency of the methodology in the educational process and development a  conclusion on  development;
  • Critical analysis of research data, scientific sources and other data.

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Graduate of the program will develop competencies to communicate their conclusions, arguments and research methods with academic and professional societies in Georgian and foreign languages, taking into consideration the standards of academic honesty and information-communication technologies.

In particular, the graduate is able to:

  • Find information about the specific field, its structuring and present to academic or public society  in oral or written form;
  • To formulate  structured and consistent research material results in both written and verbal forms;
  •  Analyze the obtained data  from various sources (secondary data);
  • Prepare a written report and its oral presentation;
  • Convey their opinions on a specific problem in a writing form;
  • Convey the outcome of the research results, in written or oral, in full or generalized form.

 

COMPETENCE OF LINGUISTIC COMMUNICATION

Master Program  Graduate can communicate in Georgian and English languages with both specialists and non-specialists concerning professional issues, and conducting the arguable themes in the correct forms of communication. 

Ability to use Internet-resources and information technology as a communication and learning tool; 

 

LEARNING ABILITY

After completing the Master Program, the Master should be able to conduct the learning independently, to realize the peculiarities of the learning processes and high level of strategic planning.

In particular, the graduate is able to:

  • Understand the need for continuous education (learning throughout life);
  • Determine their own learning aspirations, taking into consideration the  environment and opportunities and independently developing the knowledge strategy;
  • Consistent and versatile  evaluation of their knowledge, in order to understand the need of further learning, to develop the future studying strategy and deepen the knowledge independently;
  • Find necessary information and ability of structuring development.

Graduate’s evaluation of his and others' dependence on values, contribution in building new values, by using the obtained abilities.

In particular, the graduate:

  • Knows the rules and ethics of the use of scientific polemics, citation of the works of other authors, and can analyze the ways of establishing values and develop innovative methods to establish them.
  • Understands the public purpose of the educational field and educational institution and their responsibilities, and is able to contribute in establishing these values;
  • Holds the capacity of expressing and getting critics correctly;
